User's Manual for the B41-3R Class Personal Protection Automaton (now with "squids" modification)

Auchnein, or Mr. S, as this unit insists on being called, is a run-down hunk of junk that shouldn't be functioning at all, much less giving his opinion on every single little thing at every opportunity. Its current state seems to be due to a powerful source of magic inside of it. This magic provides Auchnein with life, and has caused many personality defects not typically found in protection automatons. Its sense of self-importance is highly inflated, and it tends to not make terribly much sense when speaking. Its core functionality of being a bodyguard does seem to have been retained, though there is much complaining of, "if the meatsack didn't want to bleed, why's it still a meatsack?" among other such lines of irritation with being in the frontlines.

The B41-3R was originally designed with user comfort and safety in mind, which is why it behaves and reacts much like a human. You will likely notice your automaton "breathing" through a small opening in the center of its head, which is a function that serves to cool its inner workings. It is also capable of feeling the sensation of touch, though only as a feedback reaction to damage. This sensation is dull, but does serve to help locate the source of damage for later repairs. In order for the B41-3R to maintain itself, it requires three to five hours of being in low-power mode, where it is incapable of rigorous activity, but is still alert. (If you hear whispering coming from nowhere in the middle of the night, do not be alarmed. Auchnein simply uses his abilties to telepathically speak to people and seems to enjoy scaring them.)

Its defensive combat capabilities include heavily reinforced armor, and self-repairing joints, while its offensive capabilities consist of extensive hand-to-hand knowledge (though, this does seem to have been heavily damaged in "Auchnein." On the bright side, if destroyed, the energy inside of him pulls him back together). With the magic source installed, Auchnein's abilties have been expanded to include using solidified energy as a barrier or a tendril, as well as being able to fire long-ranged bursts of destructive force. Further, he can store and retrieve objects from a pocket space, which he enjoy using as storage for a giant hammer (that shows about what happens to things stored in the pocket space for too long). Overusing this energy seems to generate more heat than it's able to cool, which causes the personality defects to go straight into temporary madness and motor control issues. However, not using it enough causes the energy to build up, at which point the energy leaks out and begins trying to devour small objects and creatures. Objects "eaten" by the tendrils can be retrieved from Auchnein's pocket space, but creatures tend to not fare so well once inside.

Class: Old god-Powered Robot

Personality: Auch's primarily a good-natured guy, but does go off on weird tangents and has little patience for being made to do things. He enjoys sarcasm, quips, and puns more than anyone really should. The old god influence has made him a bit aloof and detached from reality, which, as often as he falls through dimension cracks, "reality" is a loose term for him anyways. He's got the in-built drive to protect others, as much as he complains about it, but it's not so bad, seeing as how he's effectively immortal. He's pretty chipper though, and doesn't seem capable of fear anymore. [Update: He speaks in pixelated fonts and has a weird rivalry with other constructs. Felt that was useful to know.]

Background: He's fairly certain he used to be some sort of bodyguard, but his memory's beyond fuzzy. He was found rusted and with a broken eye by a group of adventurers from his homeworld, where their tinkerer managed to turn him on. He was barely able to move, or even think. Nevertheless, he felt the need to protect the small adventurer that reactivated him. This went incredibly poorly due to his robo-lethargy, and Auch nearly got the entire group killed. However, right before he felt that his robo-heart was about to robo-give out, he heard a bizarre, alien voice ringing inside his head. It offered a second chance, and a working body, at which point Auch, in his infinite wisdom, agreed without hearing what the voice wanted in exchange. He suddenly felt like he was new outta the workshop, and managed to save his group from the horrible fate that awaited them otherwise. Well, mostly. The wizard bit it, but he was a shitty wizard anyways.

From there, Auch traveled with his group for a while, until the tinkerer got the idea to try to shoot Auch into space. Somehow, their plan worked, and Auch found out that energy blasts make for an interesting way to move in zero gravity. Unfortunately, he never got to tell his tinker buddy how space was, as he fell through a gap in reality and into another dimension. This seemed to be a side-effect of his agreement with the whispering voice, as it started happening frequently. At one point, he just gave up trying to figure out where he was, as every time he accomplished something, he was torn into another world. Now he's gotta climb a mountain, and he really wished he could fly better, because oh boy that'd be fun.

Offensive Abilties:
Tendrils [Medium ranged, can pull, push, slap, and grab things.]

Blast [Very long ranged shot of energy that goes for quite a ways before it fizzles out. Can be used for high-jumping and pseudo-flight.]

Squiddlybits [Melee range corrupted hammer that Auch stores in... hammer space. The eye totally blinks.]

Punch [Melee range, and with Auch's body being as hard and strong as it is, a simple punch isn't going to feel too good. These punches are arguably better than any of his other fighting abilities, but he either doesn't realize this or doesn't care.]

Defensive Abilities:
Barrier [A dark mass of energy solid enough to prevent just about anything from going through; causes overheating if used too often.]

Robotic Skin [The plating on his body is made from very hard, but light material, with the biomechanical musculature beneath it being self-repairing and giving him impressive strength.]

Repair Squid [If part of Auch's body is blown completely off, the energy inside seeks itself, eventually drawing the part back on, where it then holds it in place until it reattaches properly. Further, because he runs completely on magic and bs now, destroying the core in his head or his chest doesn't seem to kill him anymore.]

Weaknesses: Intellect [Auchnein doesn't know much of anything, especially since "common knowledge" fails to be quite so common when you're constantly having to change its definition. He's also just extremely bad at making decisions. He's just also good at bsing his way outta bad situations.]

Overheating [Over-use of his squid-given powers causes more strain on his body than it can handle, making him make even less sense than usual, as well as making the link between his mind and body screwy.]

Monovision [His right eye is completely and totally busted.]

Slow [Both at picking up on hints, and physically. While he's about as heavy as a human would be at his size, he just doesn't believe in the concept of speed. He'll get where he's going eventually.]

Other: He's got a pocket dimension where he can store things, though they tend to get a little corrupted in there. Usually it takes inanimate objects a while. He runs almost entirely on the power of bs. He can totally rock a miniskirt, just sayin'.
